On this vibrant course, you will study traditional and contemporary techniques in visual arts, sculpture, drawing, painting illustration, community art, textiles, photography, digital design, graphic design, film making and fine art. The department has extensive facilities with studios for 2D and 3D work, textiles, screen printing, photography studio/darkroom, and Mac & PC suite for digital manipulation. With a host of enrichment projects, activities and exciting live briefs, students will extend their knowledge and understanding and feed their entrepreneurial spirit. Companies students have gone on to work with include Google, Channel 4 (4Creative), Uniqlo, Vogue, Bazaar, Lacoste, Dazed Magazine and Burberry. 

 

At Key Stage 4 you will study/learn on the Level 2 UAL Diploma in Art and Design:

  • Developing ideas to set briefs
  • Working with external partners and exhibiting projects
  • Creating a professional portfolio of work
  • Problem solving and collaborating 
  • Developing contextual understanding

The course offers skills and training in a range of areas which include:

  • Drawing and painting
  • Photography skills both digital and analogue. 
  • Fashion and textiles experience.
  • 3D exploration and sculpture
  • Graphic design and illustration (animation)

Industry Opportunities

We collaborate with a range of creative industry partners to ensure our students receive the most up-to-date education and real-world experience, plus access to work placements. These partnerships allow us to offer internships, professional masterclasses and industry-driven projects and opportunities.

  • A collaboration with an external professional gallery at the beginning of year 11 on a live brief
  • Local community murals with schools and businesses
  • The Horniman Museum: students work on a Live brief with the Wearable Art Project in year 10.
